Two Parks. One Epic Journey—Where Yellowstone Meets the Tetons.

Overview

Two parks. Three days. One private journey through geyser basins, glacier-carved peaks, and wildlife-rich valleys—guided by an expert naturalist who customizes each day to your interests and starting point. Along the way, you’ll stand where history was made, ride a mountaintop tram for a bird’s-eye view of the Tetons, and visit Oxbow Bend—one of the most photogenic places in the American West.

Start in Bozeman, Gardiner, Paradise Valley, West Yellowstone, or Jackson Hole; finish north or south of the parks to suit your plans. Two nights in Jackson Hole are included.

Day One — Yellowstone to Jackson Hole

Highlights: Roosevelt Arch • Mammoth Hot Springs • Norris Geyser Basin • Gibbon Falls • Grand Prismatic Hot Spring • Old Faithful Inn & Geyser • West Thumb • Moose Falls • Elk Ranch Flats • Cunningham Cabin • Snake River Overlook

Why these places matter (quick hits):

  • Roosevelt Arch: Symbolic gateway to America’s first national park (1903) and the promise “For the Benefit and Enjoyment of the People.”
  • Mammoth Hot Springs: A living sculpture garden—travertine terraces built by hot, mineral-rich water in real time.
  • Grand Prismatic Hot Spring: Yellowstone’s largest hot spring, a rainbow of microbial color framing a turquoise core.
  • Old Faithful Inn: The world’s largest log-built lodge; timeless craftsmanship and the best front-row seat for an eruption of Old Faithful.
  • Cunningham Cabin (Homestead Site): A tangible link to Jackson Hole’s frontier era and “open-range” ranching.
  • Snake River Overlook: The classic Ansel Adams vista—braided river, cottonwoods, and the Tetons soaring beyond.

Flow of the day:

Begin north (Bozeman/Gardiner/Paradise Valley/West Yellowstone) and thread through Yellowstone’s volcanic heart—from steaming terraces and technicolor hot springs to the iconic Old Faithful. Turn south past West Thumb and Moose Falls, then enter Grand Teton National Park for golden-hour stops at Elk Ranch Flats, Cunningham Cabin, and the Snake River Overlook.

Overnight Accommodations:

Guests will stay overnight in Jackson Hole. Lodging will be arranged after booking, subject to availability, and based on double occupancy.

Day Two — Grand Teton National Park & Jackson Hole

Schwabacher's Landing

Schwabacher’s Landing

Highlights: Moose-Wilson Road • Mormon Row Historic District • Kelly Warm Springs • Dornan’s • Jenny Lake • Signal Mountain • Oxbow Bend • Colter Bay • Scenic Tram Ride

Why the Tetons are so spectacular:

The Teton Range rockets nearly 7,000 feet straight up from the valley floor—young, jagged, and unglaciated at the base—creating one of the most dramatic vertical skylines on Earth. Lakes mirror the peaks, wildlife moves freely through intact corridors, and sunrise paints the granite a soft alpenglow. It’s raw, cinematic mountain country you feel as much as you see.

Spotlight — Why a tram ride is worth it:

A scenic tram (Jackson Hole Mountain Resort or Snow King) lifts you effortlessly to a summit panorama: the entire Teton chain, Snake River, Jackson Lake, and the valley spread below. It’s the quickest way to grasp the scale of the landscape, capture sweeping photos, and savor alpenglow light without a strenuous climb.

Spotlight — Why Oxbow Bend is special:

Oxbow Bend is a natural mirror: a calm backwater of the Snake River reflecting Mount Moran and its ancient glacier. It’s a magnet for wildlife—moose in willows, trumpeter swans on the water, osprey overhead—and a sunrise/sunset favorite for photographers.

Flow of the day:

Trace Moose-Wilson Road for moose and black bear habitat, walk the barns of Mormon Row, pause at Kelly Warm Springs and Dornan’s for classic Teton views, then circle Jenny Lake, Signal Mountain, Oxbow Bend, and Colter Bay. Cap the afternoon with your tram ride above the valley.

Overnight Accommodations:

Guests will stay overnight in Jackson Hole. Lodging will be arranged after booking, subject to availability, and based on double occupancy.

Day Three — Northern Yellowstone & the Lamar

Having fun at Artist Point

Having fun at Artist Point

Highlights: West Thumb Geyser Basin • Mud Volcano • Hayden Valley • Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone (Artist Point & North Rim) • Dunraven Pass • Lamar Valley (sunset safari)

Why these places matter (quick hits):

  • Hayden Valley: Prime bison range and raptor country; classic Yellowstone wildlife viewing.
  • Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone: A riot of golden rock and thundering falls—geology and color that inspired the park’s name.
  • Lamar Valley: Often called America’s Serengeti—wide, open grasslands that make wildlife sightings (bison, pronghorn, bears, wolves) possible at a respectful distance.

Flow of the day:

Re-enter Yellowstone via the South Entrance, glide along West Thumb and Mud Volcano, then scan Hayden Valley for herds and raptors. Explore both rims of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone before cresting Dunraven Pass into the Lamar Valley for golden-hour wildlife viewing. Conclude with a comfortable return to Bozeman, Gardiner, Paradise Valley, or West Yellowstone (or run this itinerary in reverse, starting in Jackson Hole).
